Veterans Preference & Military Service Information

Veterans' Preference

Veterans' preference will be granted to eligible veterans, spouses of veterans and other veterans' preference eligible persons in accordance with Florida law. To be considered for veterans' preference, you are required to complete the Village of Royal Palm Beach Veterans’ Preference Form (PDF) and submit along with a copy of your DD214 (member copy #4), or an equivalent document which serves as a certificate of release or discharge, and/or other supporting documentation as required by rule 55A-7, F.A.C. depending upon the category under which preference is being claimed along with your job application.

The applicable documents shall be attached to your job application prior to application deadline.

Although not required, Veterans are encouraged to include any information with their application, such as Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) classification descriptions, that may allow for the evaluation of military experience as it relates to job opportunities with the City. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs suggests that Veterans’ use the Jobs Thesaurus to describe a job held while in the military. Additional information useful in describing military experience relative to job opportunities may be available thru the O*Net Military Occupation Crosswalk created by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Employment and Training Administration.

In compliance with Section 295.07, Florida Statutes, the Village’s Veterans' Recruitment Plan may be found online here.
